Back to school

It's back to school tomorrow, 12 January 2011, but will there be any learning? No! Unlike in other developed countries, effective schooling in our country only starts about two weeks after official opening. This leads to many wasted school days.

Surely we can do all what needs to be done - registering learners, supplying school books, etc - before the actual opening day?!

What do you think?

Negativity about South Africa

It would appear that there are people who will always be negative about South Africa, no matter what we achieve! A case in point is the 2010 Fifa World Cup. There are people who refuse to believe that we can really do it and keep claiming that Fifa has a Plan B to take the tournament to Europe.

Now their attention has shifted torte national team. I agree that we probably won't advance to the third round, but do we really have to write off the team even before the opening ceremony?! Today the team won 4-0 and we keep hearing that our opponents were nobodies. Of course, if we had lost, the team would still have been heavily criticised for losing to minions!

Personally, the least said about such people, the better.

Racism

It would appear that there are people who are bent on seeing this country going to the dogs. According to the news this evening somebody has been distributing an SMS to various people, claiming that on Freedom Day blacks will he attacking whites, etc. What does his person (or these people) hope to achieve? And who is the loser if the country is destabilised?

One can only hope that people will not be taken by this!
